Day 7: 5 minutes of joy

This is a prompt stolen from James Clear, author of Atomic Habits which you should totally read if you haven’t already.

Anyway—in his weekly email a while ago, he asked the question: what in your day brings you joy for 5 minutes?

How can you stretch it to 10 minutes?

And I loved that idea.

What do you do in your daily routine that brings you 5 minutes of joy? Can you stretch it out a little?

Mine is my morning yoga. I go for a 12 minute run, then I come back and immediately do a 7-minute post-run yoga stretch. Whenever I can, I find a longer yoga video and do that instead. And stretch my 5 minute joy to 10 or 15 minutes.

I get joy from reading Mslexia magazine for a few minutes. Maybe I can stretch that out, too...

Over to you. Set a timer and find your 5 minutes of joy. Then see if you can stretch it.

Happy writing!

TTFN,

Vicky
