What do you want to do?

Has anyone asked you yet what you want to do?

As we go into week 4 of lockdown in the UK, there's loads of advice flying around.

Some good, some bad, some indifferent.

And there's loads of action online – understandably – showing you mostly the best sides of what people have been doing: learning, baking, creating, chilling.

(psst: what they're not showing us is those moments when they sob in a corner because everything just gets too much. I'm crying a lot at the moment. Randomly. I'm laughing a lot, too, but it's ups and downs, you know?)

Plus, I've seen loads of curtain-twitching assumptions being made about people who are out and about: is that an essential journey? Why are they in the supermarket twice this week? Where are they going in their car?

(psst: none of us know what other people are doing. Maybe they're volunteering. Maybe they're key workers. Maybe it's none of our business and worrying about what others are doing just stresses us out)

So today, on this Easter Sunday, holiest of chocolate egg days, I'd like to ask you: what do you want to do?

If the answer is learn an instrument, three new languages, and how to do a backflip – that's great! Go for it. Do it. Shout about it.

If the answer is eat all the chocolate eggs, binge watch Tiger King (I think I'm gonna have to cave at some point and watch it), and live in your pyjamas – that's great too! Go for it. Do it. Shout about it.

If the answer is hide from your kids in order to get 30 seconds peace and quiet and neck half a bottle of wine – that's... well, maybe not great, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Go for it.

My point is: you do you.

Don't let anyone shame you into ridiculous productivity.

Don't be pushed into doing more than you want to.

It's okay not to be okay.

And some people are enjoying lockdown, and that's okay too. It's okay to be okay as well.

We're not used to this Bizarro World yet. We don't know when it's going to change (which is the hardest thing of all). Maybe you're not ready to work on your business yet.

Maybe you've been working madly on it for the past 3 weeks and now you're exhausted (HI! I'm Vicky, nice to meet you).

On this 4-day weekend when we have no idea what day it is anyway, take a moment and figure out what you want to do.

And I wish you the best Easter you can possibly have.

p.s. but if you do feel like doing something, and that something involves writing your book, may I point you towards this?
