Forward to normal

'We can't go back. We can never go back!'

'I know! And I keep hearing people say it!'

^^

This was a snippet from a conversation my good friend Yinka and I had the other day.

How many times have you heard someone say – whether it's a politician on the news, a neighbour, a friend, a family member – 'when things get back to normal', or a variation on the theme?

I rarely watch the news and I don't talk to that many people... and I've heard it so. many. times. over. the. past. four. weeks.

It needs to stop.

Because there is no going back.

Quite apart from the fact that going back is against the laws of time, space, and physics, there is no way the world will be the same again.

And that's a good thing.

Even if we do "go back" to exactly how things were before lockdown, it wouldn't be the same. Because WE are not the same.

Not one person will come out of this without being profoundly changed by it.

So my question for you, today, is this:

What do you want your new world to be like?

Your life? Your business? Your relationships?

And, in a wider context, our society, our politics, our economics?

I don't want to go back, even if we could. I don't want the world to continue putting profit over people, hustle over relationships, busy over being in the moment. I don't want our world to continue hoovering finite resources as if there is no tomorrow.

I'm thinking a lot about what I want my life, my business, my relationships, and my wider experience in the world to be like.

How about you?

What has changed for you in the past few weeks, and what aspects of that change do you want to keep when lockdown is over?

Have you discovered that things you used to think were important, now aren't so crucial?

Think about it. Because we all have a unique opportunity right now to shape a better world, from the inside out.

Big changes come from Tiny Beetle Steps, taken by each of us.

TTFN, and happy Sunday,

Vicky

p.s. Maybe one of things you want to come out of lockdown is a book – fancy, you as a published author. How cool would that be? VERY COOL. I'm opening my waiting list for Blank Page to Book in 90 Days on May 1... in the meantime, get a headstart by reading my book.
