Day 28: National Essay Day

Ah, the personal essay—one of my favourite creative nonfiction forms.

If you’ve never read David Sedaris, bell hooks, Joan Didion, James Baldwin, Phoebe Robinson, Maya Angelou, Annie Dillard... go find their essays immediately.

I could share all sorts of hints and tips and advice about writing the personal essay, but it really comes down to a musing about the world. Your take on some aspect of this existence, this life we live.

I wrote a short personal essay on the subject of breakfast just the other day.

So I bequeath this prompt to you, too. Write a couple of hundred words On Breakfast.

Set a timer, and go.

And well done! It’s the last day of February! Watch out for March...

TTFN,

Vicky
