I’m gonna level with you: I’m not sure what I had in mind when I wrote the headline for today’s writing prompt.
I’d obviously been reading or listening to something about complex systems, and had a thought, but it’s gone.
So.
Consider this question: is it possible to create deep and long-lasting change from the top down in a society?
Can those in charge simply make a decree, and change the way we think, believe, and act?
Or does change need to come from the bottom up and wave its tentacles throughout society, touching everyone with a noodly appendage, and spreading new ideas quietly using the ripple effect?
We live in massively complex systems, all interlocking, and it seems to me that it’s usually little changes that create big ones.
What do you think?
Set your timer for 5 minutes and empty your thoughts onto paper. Who knows what ideas this will spark?
TTFN,
Vicky
