Today’s prompt is—think of three songs that make you want to dance, and write about why!
Here are mine:
- Cannonball by The Breeders—it’s such an indie-banger and was part of the soundtrack to my teenage years. I remember many-a night pogoing at The Coliseum on a Thursday.
- U Can’t Touch This by M.C. Hammer partly because it’s an absolute classic, partly because of the Hammer Dance and those Hammer pants, and partly because he WORE GLASSES LIKE LITTLE ME. The idea that someone who wore glasses could be cool and hip and awesome was a revelation because I got teased so. badly. So it made me leap up and groove.
- Insomnia by Faithless. Because c’mon it’s got everything that gets me going—ASMR grooves that make my hair stand on end and my stomach churn, bass beat that just hits the edge of panic, but pushes me to my feet instead of into a hole, and that feeling of being in a crowd of people feeling the same kinda way and moving their bodies together. And WHEN THAT BEAT DROPS. Turn up the volume all the way and tell me it doesn’t hit you. It’s better than drugs.
Set a timer for 5 minutes and tell me yours.
Happy writing!
TTFN,
Vicky
