Turbo-charge your writing project in one fun, late-night* writing party—and come out of it ready to keep galloping onwards.

It’s for writers, copywriters, authors, would-be authors, coaches, consultants, and creatives ready to get out of a writing rut, start a project that’s been pushed to one side, or make impressive progress on that book.

WHAT CAN YOU GET DONE AT WRITE NIGHT?

You can bring just about any project you want to Write Night. In 4 hours of uninterrupted writing time, you could:

  • Write a month's worth of content to grow your audience and your business
  • Sketch out 2 really great article drafts
  • Outline your book! (All ready to dive in the very next day)
  • Draft a couple of chapters of the book you're working on
  • Write a month's worth of relationship-building emails
  • Overhaul your website copy
  • Draft a handful of podcast episodes
  • Create the bones of a brand-new product or service (and bounce ideas around)

You tell me: what would you like to work on, if you had four hours' uninterrupted, distraction-free time to write?

And who should come to Write Night...?

YOU TRY TO WRITE  YOU REALLY DO  AND YOU DESPERATELY WANT TO, BUT YOU NEVER SEEM TO MANAGE TO FIT IT IN...

...because life gets in the way, amiright?

You’re a writer. You love writing—and you want to write more, better, faster, so you can tell your story—and maybe even finally write that book.

However…

You have 3,173 responsibilities as a human and a business owner… so sitting down to write often feels nigh-on-impossible. And you’re sick of being told by the bro-hustlers that you’re not trying hard enough (we both know how wrong they are).

When you sit down to write, your attention gets dragged away by, well, literally anything else. You'd love writing to be at the core of who you are, and you want to do more of it... but you never seem to have time to write. You’re left wondering how “real writers” do this, and whether you’re not a proper writer after all: ‘Why can’t I just sit down and write?’

And when you do finally start writing, the guilt creeps in. Like writing is somehow an indulgence or frivolity, and there’s always something more important we should be doing. Usually for someone else. (You hear me, ladies and not-gents?)

You know you should be writing more—whether you have a book on your brain, or you simply need to write more emails, articles, or content to build your audience... but you're so far in the weeds in your business, it's tough to find time to work on your business.

In short:

You love to write, but you're not writing, and you have something you want to write.

Come on in!

This is the place where your writing gets done. I’m behind you—and I created the Moxie Books Write Night just for you.

SOUNDS LIKE AN EVENING WELL SPENT — THAT'LL LEAVE YOU WITH A PIECE OF WORK TO BE PROUD OF?

Then join me, my friend, because I am about to introduce you to a magical world of writing and creative abundance you've only dreamed of until now...

Imagine what it would feel like to…

Sit down uninterrupted and write what you want to write—without being distracted, derailed, or feeling guilty about your writing time

Have a group of supportive writers and business owners just like you to bounce ideas off—and get the answers and encouragement you need to take the next step

Finally start that book or finish that project—you might be starting, finishing, or stuck in the middle, but you’ll take a big step closer to the finish line

Find a coven of like-minded people who feel the same way about writing as you do—new friends, new confidants, new advisers

Kickstart a writing habit that’ll continue far beyond this one night—so you never again struggle to find time to write

Write that shitty first draft and embrace its shitty perfection—because here’s an amazing secret: the only job your first draft has is to exist. So it’s already perfect. Yay! You are in a safe place to write that first draft here

WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WRITE WITH ME? CHECK THESE OUT...

I have LOVED my time with the Moxie Writer’s Group and it’s basically changed my life.

The premise is so simple, but unbelievably useful. The consistent early morning sessions *just* for writing and creativity have been so awesome, and have helped me get more writing done in the last month than I have in *years*. I’m actually writing emails to my list consistently now, AND working on tinkering on my book (AHH!) Plus, I actually feel excited to wake up for a 7 AM session? What is this sorcery????

Add to that, the community is phenomenal, the resources are killer, and Vicky’s warm and welcoming nature makes you feel like you’ve found your secret society of writerly misfits.

You can also make your own schedule (I like to join Tues-Thurs), or come every day — whatever works best for you.

Thank you so much Vicky! I’m so proud to be #TeamMoxie!

IT. WAS. EPIC!!

I love the name, I love the concept—it was going to be like our morning Power Hour, but on steroids!

IT. WAS. EPIC!!

Because I’m a natural night owl, it was so beautiful to be in my vibe—I wanted to make it really worth it and it so was.
I wrote more during Write Night than at any other time—the enforced breaks were amazing too and added even more energy to proceedings.

By the end of the evening, I had a massive headstart on my book and a really powerful focus on so many areas! It was great—and felt really subversive on the morning sessions…

That dedicated writing block is a thing of power.

My book was born at Write Night. It won’t be ready for a long time but it feels great to have started a project that’s been taking up space in my mind for at least a year.

I love the power hours and get something out of all your events I’ve attended. I joined Write Night because I thought I’d be able to start my book and liked the idea of having no interruptions at night.

And… I wrote the first 2500+ words of my book! The time flew by and though I could have prepared a better outline and made my life easier, I got into the groove by the end and could have continued—had it not been nearly 2 am.

I loved the team aspect. It felt like we were in on a secret, getting stuff done and having fun, at a time when everyone else was chilling or asleep.

And not having to block out time during the day to attend an event was great as that made attending an incredibly easy decision.

My book was born at Write Night. It won’t be ready for a long time but it feels great to have started a project that’s been taking up space in my mind for at least a year.

It was such a nice atmosphere, I felt we really were all supporting each other.

I am pretty strict with my bedtime/morning routine, I was worried it was going to fuck up all my ‘sleep hygiene’ progress as I'm a terrible sleeper.

But Write Night gave me time to do a writing assignment I have been putting off for months (and I got feedback today and got an A for the assignment so yay!)

It was such a nice atmosphere, I felt we really were all supporting each other. I’m often afraid of speaking up, but last night felt more relaxed and easier to talk. (no I wasn’t drinking!)

Vicky has managed to assemble an incredible group of writers, cheerleaders and experts. It’s incredible to write while you’ve got support, motivation and invaluable advice on tap! It’s not just accountability that makes Write Night so amazing, it’s the people! Need any proof, just see how many amazing books have been written and published because of Team Moxie!

Loved it! I enjoyed the companionship, the craic, working alongside others…

I joined Write Night to write in a large (split) block and feel smug about getting stuff done.

Loved it! As an owl I enjoy working late at night and loved that I could focus on what I wanted to do without interruption from family or phone. Though Gus (my dog) was a bit put out—he wanted to go to bed!

I enjoyed the companionship, the craic, working alongside others. I think most of us who work from home are feeling especially isolated at the moment, and to be in a group, albeit virtually, is a boost to the emotions and creates drive and determination to achieve something (this applies to your Power Hours too).

During the evening I prepared half the presentations for my next new course (written thank to Power Hours) and also outlined a new Resource Guarding course for my online Academy.

BUT BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER, YOU SHOULD KNOW...

WRITE NIGHT IS:

A 4-hour one-off writing party to give you time and space to make big progress on your writing project. I'll give you a distraction-free, guilt-free evening to start, finish, or make progress on work that matters to you.

A toolkit of worksheets + planning tools so you can spend more time focused writing and less time faffing.

A group goal-setting session at the start to keep you and the rest of the Write Night Crew accountable—and make some new friends!

4 writing sessions with breaks in between so you don't lose all feeling in your bum.

2 live Q&A sessions with me and the rest of the Write Night Crew: get unstuck, bounce ideas around, and ask me anything.

FUN! I promise. Writing should be fun (when it isn't painful) and I promise to introduce you to a fantastic group of people you won't want to leave behind.

WRITE NIGHT IS NOT:

A guarantee that you'll produce a publishable-perfect piece of work. In fact, that's not the main idea. I'm giving you time and space to focus and write—and embrace the Shitty First Draft

A group coaching session. This is about writing, support, and accountability. There are 2 live Q&A sessions, and I will do my best to answer all questions—but this is about making progress.

A writing class. I'll be on hand to give tips and hints if anyone asks, but it's not a formal teaching session. It's a creative space for you.

A long boring seminar. You get to show up in pyjamas or sequins (or both), drink in hand, ready to write something that matters to you—safe in the knowledge that here is a safe space full of people who've got your back.

A writers' review circle. I'd love it if you connect with fellow Write Night Crew after the event and help each other to improve!

HOW DOES WRITE NIGHT WORK, EXACTLY?

During this super-fun live writing party, I break the evening down into 4 writing sessions, 2 live Q&A sessions, and an initial goal-setting meet-and-mingle with drinks and nibbles.*

You'll get access to my planning worksheets + my brain: you can ask me anything before we start, and during the two Q&A sessions I'll do my best to answer any and all questions asked. Plus you get access to the rest of the Write Night Crew's brains.

* I'm afraid I can't provide the drinks and nibbles, but I am working on a teleportation device for future Write Nights!

HERE'S THE PLAN FOR THE EVENING:

BEFORE

Before we start the evening's live writing, we'll get to know each other and share our goals. Structure your writing sessions so you get the most out of them.

Yep, there'll be worksheets and guidance to help you do that!

7.30-7.45pm Meet 'n' mingle

Come in, say hi to fellow Write Night Crew, have a drink and a nibble, and share stories.

7.45-8.00pm Goals & Aims

Share your goals for the evening with the Write Night Crew. If you have any questions about planning and getting the most out of your evening, now's the time to ask!

DURING

4 live writing sessions with two short breaks and one longer live Q&A session, to help you bust through any creative blocks you might be experiencing.

8.00-8.45pm Session 1

8.45-8.55pm Break

8.55-9.40pm Session 2

9.40pm-10.00pm Q&A & Discussion

Stuck? Got questions? Need to bounce ideas around? Now's the time to do that. Ask us anything and we'll get you moving.

10.00-10.45pm Session 3

10.45-10.55pm Break

10.55-11.40pm Session 4

AFTER

Right after the final writing session, we'll all get together again to celebrate our achievements, ask any outstanding questions, and vote on the finest pyjamas/outfits.

11.40-12.00pm Wrap up & Celebrate!

I'll ask you to share your wins with the Write Night Crew.

I'd also love it if you'd share your struggles, and any tips you might have for helping your fellow writers write.

And I'll have an invitation for you, too.

AND NOW, A MESSAGE FROM TEAM MOXIE

I wrote the entire first draft of my book in about 5 weeks.

I think it’s fair to say that wouldn’t have happened without Team Moxie. And now it’s growing into this amazing group of people who I want to check in with and support as well as get some writing done. I was literally just telling Rich how much I get out of it.

(LOUISE BLACKBURN, INDEPENDENT WEB PROFESSIONAL, WWW.AMBERCOUCH.CO.UK)

I love this group.

I never have considered myself a writer before but now with these power hours I am getting the practice in. Slowly my confidence is growing. The resistance I used to feel is melting away and I actually do a little happy dance when I make one of these sessions. You make writing fun!

(SIAN MAPP, CANINE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SPECIALIST, WWW.PINKFOX.CO)

Thanks Vicky!

I’ve loved this week. It’s helped so much already. I usually know what I’m going to write but my writing is always the last thing I prioritise, even my non-fiction for my main business. I needed to get my bum on a seat and actually do it. This is what I needed.

(JULIA ROEBUCK, WRITER + COMPUTER SCIENCE TUTOR, WWW.LEARNTEC.CO.UK)

In the last few years I have made a number of decisions and I can say that this year [2020] the best decision that I made was to join Team Moxie.

I am a newbie and am somewhat in awe of what everybody in the team has achieved so far. Everybody is kind, supportive, encouraging and inspiring even at 7 in the morning. Thank You Vicky, today you made my day very special!!

(ANNE TREANOR, WRITER + IT EXPERT)

A MESSAGE FROM WRITER-IN-CHIEF—A.K.A. WHY AM I DOING THIS?

Hi! I'm Vicky—writer, book coach, indie-publishing champion, and gatherer-of-incredible-humans... and creator of the Team Moxie Write Night.

You may have seen me around and if you do a little searching, you'll see I'm pretty prolific—writing a lot of (bloody good) words is how I've grown my business to a comfortable size, created a 4-day week for myself, and gathered loyal readers and wonderful clients who I love working with.

Since 2012, I've been coaching other business owners and writers to help them improve their writing—and, more importantly, their confidence to write.

Last year, during #lockdown, I brought a group of fabulous writerly misfits together into Team Moxie, where wonderful things are created. I know how powerful it is to commit to something and then show up. I understand the power of a group of like-minded people who'll have your back.

And so I created Write Night. It's been a tough couple of years, and I know motivation can be a bit of a struggle. So I wanted to gently turbocharge your writing and introduce you to the group you've been waiting for: Team Moxie.

Join us for the night and you'll be astonished at what you can achieve.

LET'S CREATE TOGETHER.

FAQs

(or, WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS THIS ALL ABOUT THEN?)

When is Write Night happening?

Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 7.30 pm UK time until midnight.

What will I write? What if I’m not writing a book?

I could say "you can write anything you like" but that wouldn't be terribly helpful (although it is true). So instead I'll list out what other people have worked on during previous Write Nights:

  • Their books (of course!)
  • Website copy overhaul
  • Video scripts (and even some filming)
  • Sales pages
  • Email sequences
  • A novel or other fiction project
  • Lead magnets
  • New product creation
  • Training course materials
  • Completing courses as students
  • And much more…

Do I have to have my camera on?

No! We would love to see you, but you do not have to have your camera on, and you don’t have to give me any reason why not. You can simply show up, chat with your voice or in the chat box, and be on video or not.

Do I have to dress up? Or down?

No, no, and no! You can come in your pyjamas, your work clothes, or dressed as a banana. Whatever flips your snicket.

What do I need to prepare?

I'll give you everything you need in advance to help you get maximum value out of the evening, including tools to help you plan each session.

I do suggest that you have something specific in mind to work on—a project or single aim of some kind, rather than working on bits and pieces. You'll probably get more out of it that way.

So, decide in advance what you want to work on, and what you'd like to achieve by the end of the evening. We'll help you with the rest!

What if I don’t speak English?

No problem! You can work in any language. The group is there to help you with any questions or challenges you may have, but you don't have to share your work with us if you don't want to.

Do I need to share my work?

No! Although we'd LOVE to see what you're working on, and we're happy to give you feedback or ideas, you absolutely do not have to share your work if you don't want to.

How does it work?

You show up at around 7.30 pm UK time for a meet and greet. This isn't compulsory but you'll have a great time and meet some brilliant people if you show up early. Then at 7.45 pm we'll have a quick round-table of intention setting: we all share our intentions for the evening and for the first session. This keeps us accountable and on track. At 8 pm, the first session kicks off and we write! If you get stuck, post in the chat box and we'll try to get you unstuck. And on we go!

Who will be there?

I am extremely lucky to know a fascinating bunch of people, so here's who you might run into on the night:

  • A copywriter
  • An English language teacher (American) living in Spain
  • An English language teacher (British) living in Croatia, previously living in Japan
  • A business coach
  • A dog trainer
  • A web developer and systems nerd
  • A translator
  • Another copywriter
  • A beautician
  • A dog behaviour specialist
  • A will writer
  • A novelist + computer science teacher
  • A marketing expert
