Your writing prompt for today is: do you celebrate Christmas?
If not, why not? Do you celebrate something else instead?
If you do, how do you do it?
I'm an agnostic atheist, a humanist, and every now and then a religious person expresses surprise that I celebrate Christmas. But why wouldn't I?
I'm lucky enough to have had a fab childhood and many happy memories of putting out mince pies and carrots for Santa and his reindeers, of watching Christmas movies, and eating festive food, and playing silly games.
I love Christmas carols and hymns. I even love a singalong in church.
Mostly, though, I value spending some time with the people I love (then hiding from them when it all gets too much). I enjoy picking out gifts, and writing messages, and eating too much, and lazing around reading books.
Set your timer for 5 minutes and write. No editing, no overthinking, no second-guessing—just read the prompt and then start writing.
Happy writing!
TTFN,
Vicky
